On one amazing day in October 2006, with the help of the generous donors, we raised over $400,000 for charity, by hosting Life is good Pumpkin Festivals in Newland communities across the nation. We did so by hosting Life is good Pumpkin Festivals in Newland communities across the nation and with the generous help from our donors. Thousands of people in our communities across the country enjoyed a fun-filled family day while rallying around a great cause. For 2007, we hope to have the same fundraising success as we did in 2006.

Our festivals themselves are celebratory community events, incorporating good old-fashioned outdoor fun and family participation. Our residents, neighbors and Newland team members enjoy a day of pumpkin carving, scarecrow stuffing, face painting, live music, great food and more. All events are free to attend, with funds raised through donations, contests, and the sale of specially-designed Life is good tee shirts.

Donate to the cause
If you are interested in donating to the 2007 festivals, you can do so in several ways:

Attend one of our festivals. At each event donation boxes will be present and proceeds from the sale of tee shirts, food and auction items will be available for purchase.
Write a check to the Life is good Kids Foundation which exists to improve the physical, emotional and social well-being of children. Be sure to write on the check: 2007 Pumpkin Festivals. The Life is good Kids Foundation will issue a tax receipt for donations of $250 or more. The Life is good Kids Foundation will direct these funds to HomeAid and the various local charities chosen by Newland’s communities across the country.
Purchase a Glow Heart pumpkin online with all funds going directly to our national charity, HomeAid.

HomeAid
Founded in 1989, HomeAid builds multi-unit facilities for temporarily homeless children and their families with children, through the generous donation of time, resources, and expertise by the home-building industry. HomeAid gives the completed facilities to local homeless service providers that offer the necessary training and support to help their residents regain self-sufficiency and contribute back to society. HomeAid has helped more than 80,000 individuals re-build their lives.

Glow Hearts
A spectacular and inspirational moment during our Life is good Pumpkin Festivals occurs at sunset, when we simultaneously light a display of pumpkins carved with hearts. These heart-carved pumpkins are called Glow Hearts, and each of these pumpkins has been purchased by someone who cares. For 2007, funds raised from the sale of each Glow Heart pumpkin will be donated to HomeAid, our national charity.

Not all of us in America today are fortunate enough to have a place to live with loved ones. A place to call one’s true home. In fact, on any given night, between 700,000 and 800,000 Americans are homeless. Many of today’s homeless are children; the sons and daughters of women and families who have experienced a life-altering circumstance that has sadly put them out onto the street.
